National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The country's oldest museum (1888), home to the medieval Sarajevo Haggadah and a botanical garden.
About
Four pavilions around a botanical garden hold archaeology (including medieval stećak tombstones), ethnology and natural history. The star is the Sarajevo Haggadah, a 14th-century illuminated Jewish manuscript saved twice — in WWII and again during the siege.
Local tip
The Haggadah is shown in a dedicated room — check at the desk whether it is on display.
