Latin Bridge
The Ottoman stone bridge beside which Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated on 28 June 1914.
About
One of the oldest bridges across the Miljacka, rebuilt in stone in the 18th century. On the corner opposite, Gavrilo Princip fired the shots that triggered the First World War. The corner building is now the Museum of Sarajevo 1878–1918.
History
The bridge has had many names — Latin (after the Catholic "Latin" quarter on the right bank), then Princip Bridge in Yugoslav times, and Latin again since 1992.
Local tip
