Money
The currency is the convertible mark (KM / BAM), pegged to the euro at roughly 1.96 KM = €1. Many places in the centre accept euros, but you will usually get change in marks. Cards are widely accepted, but traditional ćevabdžinicas and bakeries often prefer cash.
Getting around
The centre is compact and walkable. Trams run along the valley from Baščaršija to Ilidža; buy a ticket from the driver or kiosk and validate it on board. Use official taxis with a meter, or a ride-hailing app.
Visiting mosques
- Cover shoulders and knees; women cover their hair
- Shoes off before entering the prayer hall
- Avoid visiting during prayer times, especially Friday midday
